This is the example of Skrilo, an indian originated mobile marketing and rewards platform that achieved to raise $1.5 million dollars through angel funding. Not to mention it has the ‘look’ of a strong visioned startup, since it was barely founded in 2015, but it has already a strong southeast asian presence.
However, this is just precisely justified, as the founder is Manish Sinha, a distinctive sir who previously co-found and co-managed companies such as Amoeba Capital or Gauray Singh, and he has over 12 years of experience in the software industry.
Anyway, all the bucks collected were clutched from investors that were in the league of ex-Googlers. The objective? To spend funds in the rewards platform as well on strengthening the company’s product pipeline.
So what exactly is Skrilo?
Skrilo is, as we already stated, a marketing and rewards platform which helps corporate, businesses and brands to engage consumers with a set of campaigns, content, coupons and deals: everything set along to motivate them in an engaged and targeted manner.
Don’t be confused. This segment has witnessed different players in the past, with the presence of some key ones such as Groupon or Buy1Get.
According to Sinha, Skrilo performs best when meeting marketing key performance indicators to its users, crossing marketing reated statistics with those regarding the rewards structure. Finally, the platform settles itself in an accesible way through its app version (the only not-so-cool thing here is that is just available for Android devices).
Skrilo’s birth is also supported by the abnormal growth of India’s internet industry. In this country, the smartphone usage is estimated to jump from 200 million to 650 million in just 3 or 4 years, so it’s just natural that digital advertising will rise, although it’s still in its early stage, not to mention mobile marketing (just a very, very small percentage of digital advertising brands or agencies promotes it).
But, it’s safe to say that the future is brilliant, as Skrilo drives through a different pattern that shifts from the common intrusive marketing and advertising solutions. Well, that’s what they say.
