It’s our turn to check out one of the most popular app development platforms of the recent months: Attendify.
As you may know (or you may not), there are quite a few platforms that help users to ‘develop’ their own apps. These ‘developments’ are not really ground zero creations, as they are properly management and content systems that helps us to set-up an app on the Apple and Google app stores.
One of the most popular plataforms, recently, is Attendify. The platform describes itself as a system that helps to leverage the power of a private networking app built just for an event, assuring to boost attendee engagement with profiles, photo sharing, messaging, polls and more.
Mainly, creating an app in Attendify is best suited when you’re in the necessity of creating an intelligent network for a convention, congress or forum (much of the events that are part of the meetings industry).
But let’s get down to the grain. Attendify has a lot of cool features, but some others plainly… meh.
The cool things about Attendify and main functions
First of all, Attendify is centered in the events niche, so the guys at the HQ really know the market. As they state it, whether you run one event or a hundred, Attendify makes it easy with a single dashboard to manage your event apps.
Besides of the ‘natural’ social features inside the Attendify modeled apps, such as connecting and messaging other users, the inner “own” features are mainly focused on providing an experience for different type of events:
As you may see in the image, we get options as:
- Schedule: for consulting the different conferences, meetings or other type of events within your congress or forum.
- About: for consulting random information.
- Exhibitors: here you can check out information on the exhibitors (really?!). Well, if the event’s got ’em.
- Interactive map: a very cool feature to discover nearby places to the event’s venue.
- Map: a more venue based map, normally convention centres’ maps are hosted in here so you can know where bail room, plenary and others are located.
- Speakers: information about the event’s protagonists can be hosted here. People can connect, review and obtain other cool data about them.
- Sponsors: same as in exhibitors, focused on sponsorship and monetizing.
- Twitter: mainly, a Twitter feed.
- News: a RSS based feed.
- WebView: you can embed the display of any website (just corroborate that it’s 100% responsive!)
From the administration panel, you can also launch sponsored posts, push notifications or quick polls, so with a good strategy you can assure that interaction will be part of the game.
So, at this point you may say that everything’s just fine. And yes, it is, as you can basically boost your meetings with these functions. But, there are some downplays for Attendify.
And those are?
First of all, besides of the functions shown, there are not many possibilities for you to cross features and functions with third party websites or services if you don’t want users to exit the app.
For example, once I had the task to connect a streaming session for a congress. It had to be very intuitive for users. My only option was to use the WebView function, but even so it forced the users to go out of the Attendify-based app.
The other downplay is the base cost of launching the app. It starts at $999USD, which leaves many (and I mean, many) Meeting Professionals out of play.
And the thing is that those 999 bucks are worth it, but many businesses are not that convinced to pay such a high amount of money for a single app.
Overall, Attendify is a very cool app management system, but its high costs and the lack of integrations downgrades it a little. It’s your number 1 option for a congress, convention or forum if your client isn’t asking complex things.
